Just a few words that come to my mind when I think of my mother, Lovie Reynolds.
My mom is the oldest of five children and the mother of five. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and waited to rejoin the workforce when her youngest started school. She retired from a management position at the IRS in 2001.
My mom is my role model. She's kind, quick with a smile or encouraging word but very organized and disciplined. I'm grateful for her consistent example and that she passed these qualities to all of her kids.
I was only 10 when my dad was paralyzed and while I was too young to really understand what was happening I do remember this SUPERWOMAN handling her business, taking care of all five kids and never missing a beat. She ensured all our needs were met and we knew we were loved.
My mom empowered her children. She supported our goals, encouraged us to dream and was our biggest cheerleader. Now, she does this for all of her grandchildren, too.
She is fiercely independent and equally as loving—just like her name. If I can be half the woman she is then I will consider that my most treasured blessing.
